Imagine being fined $100 A MONTH just for handing out cold bottled water to your neighbors! That’s exactly what’s taking place in a community within Goodyear, Arizona. His name is David Martin and for about the last year, he’s had a cooler in his driveway with a sign that reads, ‘PLEASE GRAB A WATER!’. No charge, just someone being kind, right? Not according to David’s HOA. They contacted him, saying he was breaking HOA rules by, ‘advertising water bottle distribution from a portable ice chest that’s visible from a neighboring property”. As you’ll see in this video below from news station, 12 News, the sign isn’t huge and gawdy, spray painted in big letters or with some inappropriate photo. It’s handwritten on the cooler.
THIS is the very reason so many people cannot stand HOAs. It’s a group of neighbors who serve on a board to make sure their neighborhoods don’t get out of control with ‘serious’ problems, not over something as damn dumb as handing out bottles of water. There are two types of members of an HOA committee: Sheriff Andy Taylor or Deputy Barney Fife. The first one is reasonable, kind and still upholds the rules. The second, is on a power trip and usually goes looking for problems where they don’t exist~
