The winners have been announced and let’s just say we’re surprised once again. Cyndi Lauper made it in…but Billy Idol did not. Both 80s superstars, but apparently the group of 1,200 in the music industry didn’t think Billy was worthy. I totally disagree since he’s had multiple mega hits including, ‘Mony Mony’, ‘Eyes Without A Face’, ‘Dancing With Myself’ and others. I feel like this happens every year where bands or artists are overlooked for whatever reason. Joe Cocker made it in, and definitely earned it (God rest his soul). Warren Zevon was incredible and has been recognized under the ‘Musical Influence’ category. Surprisingly, Phish did not make it this year, even though they had the highest number of fan votes. Not surprised, as the committee who has the final call most likely doesn’t give a damn what the fans think. This year’s class will be inducted in the RNR HOF on November 8th in L.A. streamed live on Disney+ and then will air on ABC at a later date.
