World’s Oldest Skydiver Dies Days After Breaking World Record

Dorothy Hoffner, a Chicago woman, jumped out of an airplane days ago. She was 104 when she made her jump. She traded her walker for a parachute in an attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Record for oldest person to skydive. The previous record holder was a 103 year old woman from Sweden.

Sadly, Dorothy died in her sleep at her nursing home on Sunday. Skydive Chicago is working with the Guiness Book of World Records to certify her record breaking jump. This was not Dorothy’s first time jumping out of an airplane. She first went skydiving when she was around 100.
