Your Kid’s Drawings Tell You How They Feel

Your kid’s drawings tell you more than you think. Sometimes kids aren’t able to put to words the feelings they are having inside. Grown adults have a hard enough time with this so imagine being 5, still learning to count AND having to describe feelings of anger or frustration well to someone else. Experts say sometimes a drawing is just a drawing and sometimes its more so it’s a good practice to ask your child when they show you their art what it means to them. They might express more feelings that “people in the drawing are having” or the reason why it looks the way it looks which gives insight to their own feelings. Sometimes even the WAY they draw, as in more details or bold or soft strokes, might be an indicator of stress or if a child is trying very hard.  There is a whole article with a lot more detail but it was very interesting!
