It was actually announced over the summer by Elle Woods herself! Reese Witherspoon posted a video to her Twitter with the caption “It’s true…#LegallyBlonde3.”

Who’s writing the movie?
It seems as if everyone’s favorite Mindy Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s co-creator Dan Goor are writing the script. Apparently the two have been hard at work during quarantine, reports Deadline. Deadline also said that the third Legally Blonde installment isn’t a remake but more of a fresh take.
Who’ll make an appearance?
According to Seventeen.com, Reese will return and play Elle Woods, “but it’s unclear who else will be returning for the third installment. In her interview with ET, Reese mentioned there would be some returning characters, as well as some new ones, but she didn’t specify anything.” Unfortunately Bruiser, Elle’s chihuahua, won’t be returning as he passed away 5 years ago.
When will the film be released?
ET reported that the release will be Valentines Day 2020 back in 2018. Seeing as that is already passed, we can hopefully assume it will be released sometime in 2021 or 2022.
I can’t believe Legally Blonde 3 is almost here and to tie us over until then, Reese is getting together with the cast tomorrow at 6:15pm on her YouTube channel, Hello Sunshine, for a reunion!
