Last night was the American Idol finale and they’ve had to end the 2020 season virtually. While that isn’t as glamorous as usual, this one offered a goosebumps-worthy tribute to these hard times. Back in 1985, “We Are the World” was released as a charity single in support of Africa… thirty-five years later it’s been revamped with the help of this year’s American Idol finalists and judges along with past winners and finalists.

The video itself puts each artist in a part of an empty landscape in part of our country — the landscapes show the lack of people due to restrictions necessary due to COVID-19.

The beautiful voices coupled with the haunting imagery made my spine tingle. Will it do the same for you?
