May 1st was Tim Bray’s last day as an Amazon VP and he gave up a lot of money by quitting. Bray said in his personal blog,

“What with big-tech salaries and share vestings, this will probably cost me over a million (pre-tax) dollars, not to mention the best job I’ve ever had, working with awfully good people. So I’m pretty blue.”

Bray resigned in protest of the recent firings of company execs who spoke out in support of warehouse employees and their fears of Covid-19.

Read more from USA Today, which explains that Bray does trust that Amazon is investing in protecting warehouse workers, but he opposed the company shedding the whistleblowers.
