Nikki Halloween Freak: The Skin Lamp

Another fun Halloween craft!  I was inspired by stories of Ed Gein  , the serial killer that was the inspiration for Norman Bates in Psycho, Leather Face in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, and a ton more!  I’ll let you research that craziness on your own but I wanted to try to make my own version of the artifacts he made from the parts of his victims I went for the skin lamp.  First, I bought a lamp from Goodwill and some thin old man rubber masks from Meijer.  I also added a larger needle and some red thread from a craft store to make it look creepier.

I started sewing the masks together in a crude fashion (I later got smarter and just sewed the pieces to the lamp individually… it was my first skin lamp… there was a learning curve.)

I made sure to add noses, ears, and a face to make it creepier.

After it was all attached the rubber masks were still pretty pale so I used Ben Nye bruising make up to add dimension to the skin (as if from several different people) and some fake blood and hair dispersed throughout the stitching to make it even creepier.

And tadaaa! Skim Lamp! (And Marbles who did NOT love my creation.)
